We’re starting to gradually upgrade all our managed OpenSearch clusters to the latest supported version in Amazon OpenSearch Service (V2.5).
Depending on which version your OpenSearch domain comes from, this upgrade brings up several new features and improvements, together with bug fixes and maintenance updates. You can find more information on what has changed in the OpenSearch Version History page.
There’s also a breaking change that might have some impact on your application. In OpenSearch version 2.0 the type parameter has been removed from all APIs, which has been deprecated for a while. If you are using the type parameter you’ll have to switch to using document types to categorize your indexes.
We’ll be creating Github issues in our customer repositories to follow this up properly, and to find a suitable time-window to perform the upgrades.
